About the Author: Jorge Edwards nació en Santiago, Chile, en 1931. Premio Nacional de Literatura (1994) y Premio Miguel de Cervantes (1999), es uno de los grandes escritores de la lengua española. Estudió derecho, filosofía y fue miembro del Servicio Exterior chileno desde 1958 hasta el golpe de Estado de 1973. Es autor de cuentos, novelas, ensayos, memorias y columnista muy leído en diarios de España e Hispanoamérica. Ha sido profesor visitante en universidades norteamericanas y europeas y presidente del comité de la lucha contra la censura creado en los años de la dictadura en Chile. Sus cuentos figuran en antologías de todo el mundo. Sus principales novelas son El peso de la noche (1964), Los convidados de piedra (1978), El museo de cera (1982), El anfitrión (1987), La mujer imaginaria (1989), El origen del mundo (1996) y El Sueño de la Historia (2000). Su libro Persona non grata (1973), primera crítica de un intelectual latinoamericano al régimen cubano, ya es un clásico en su género. Adiós, Poeta..., que en 1990 recibió el Premio Comillas, es un retrato personal y una evocación a veces sorprendente de la figura de Pablo Neruda.
