Title: INDEX TO MY INDIAN JOURNAL.
Publisher: Privately Published., India, Calcutta or Simla
Publication Date: 1910
Binding: Hard Cover
Edition: 1st Edition
No printing details are given but evidence from the journal itself suggests that it was printed in India, probably at the Viceroy's Press in either Simla or Calcutta. This work contains a separately paginated detailed index to each of the 5 volumes of Lady Minto's Journal - in itself an extremely scarce work. Pagination 1905 & 1906 xxvi; 1907 xxix; 1908 xxxvi; 1909 xxv; 1910 xxiii. Although unfortunately separated from a set of the diaries, which were written for family members and close friends, this volume contains a cery detailed insight into the Minots' life in india after Lord Minto took over from Lord Curzon. For example in 1907 there are approaching a hundred entries under "Viceroy" including "Prince Ram Mookerjee, Letter from - proposing marriage with ----'s daughter" and "Raja of Nagha, INterview between the ----- and ----, His Highness' views on the state of the Punjab". This copy is bound in contemporary maroon full morocco gilt, the spine ruled in compartments with the Minto monogram beneath an earl's coronet in the bottom compartment, boards somewhat stained but the spine particularly bright and clean, boards springing a little, contents very clean and fresh. We have seen odd volumes in various colours and one complete set in blue which we sold to the British Library several years ago. Bookseller Inventory # 006995
