Large 8vo. pp 340. Original publisher's faux green leather boards, lettered silver on spine and front cover. Text in French. Reprint of the 1911 edition, published by M. Riviere, Paris. From the library of J.P. Mayer (1903 - 1992) with his neat book stamp on the front endpaper. J. P. Mayer was the advisory editor for the Arno Press series. Later he became professor Emeritus at Reading University and authored books on De Tocqueville, Max Weber and French political thought. He fled to England in 1936 having been a leading figure in the anti-Nazi movement in Germany. He then worked for Britain in the Ministry of Economic Warfare. This book is very heavy, and delivery costs may be a consideration especially outside Britain. ISBN: 0405117418 Very good.
