This book commemorates the 150th anniversary of the First Church of Christ and begins with the formation of the First Ecclesiastical Society in 1754, making it the first in New Britain. The church was officially organized in 1758 and Rev. John Smalley was ordained as its first pastor. The book provides historical reflections on important events, such as the creation of the South Congregational Church from this First Church and the dedication of the current edifice in 1855. This book provides valuable insights into the history of the church, the lives of its pastors, and the many individuals who have contributed to its success and legacy in the community. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
