Add to basket"Hudibras" by Samuel Butler -1726 - fair -16 engravings by Hogarth - published, London, by T.W for D.Browne, J.Walthoe, J.Knapton et al. Pocket Book of Butler's satire originally published in 3 parts( 1663,1664 and 1678) in this one volume with 16 full-page cuts "designed and engraved by Mr Hogarth" (all extant) - some of which are pull-out. Sewn binding, tightly rebound in marbled boards , quarter leather. The top quarter of the title page of Part 1 has been neatly excised for reasons unknown ( see seller's images for this and for condition generally) - notwithstanding this, condition generally is reasonably fair to good, with some minor page loss here and there, occasional mispagination by the printer with no effect on continuity and the odd minor tear and with some blemishing and marks throughout . The seller is very happy to provide further images on request on this or to answer any queries generally as to condition or otherwise. The first pasted down free end paper has a previous owner inscription " Henry Bruce" neatly written in pen, possibly the Liberal politician of this name, but not being claimed here by the seller.
