Quarto. (xvii) 247pp. Illustrated by the author. 36 full-page plates with 11 in color (including frontispiece) plus 2 small color illustrations; numerous in-text illustrations. Half black cloth and tan paper boards with color cover illustration in tan dust jacket with matching color illustration; housed in scarce original box with publisher's label on upper front corner. Near fine (bookplate) in like dustjacket (light creasing to lower front edge) in somewhat worn box. Fiction, Fact & Fancy concerning the Buccaneers & Marooners of the Spanish Main, including Captain Blackbeard, Jack Ballister, Captain Morgan, Blueskin the Pirate, Captain Scarfield and Tom Chist. "It is improbable that anyone else will ever bring his combination of interest and talent to the depiction of these old-time Pirates, any more than there could be a second Remington to paint the now extinct Indians and gun-fighters of the Great West." - Foreword.
