Item description from seller

Published during The Second World War by Hulton Press Limited this booklet gave advice to housewives regarding the repair and modification of clothing that was necessary at the time. This was known as Make Do and Mend. In the introduction the magazine Housewife, which produced the booklet, describes choosing those projects which 'will prove most valuable to amateur needlewomen, as they describe simple foundation stitches and methods upon which the higher arts of dressmaking and renovation can be successfully built up'. These projects include patching holes in different fabrics, mending tears, darning household linens and sweaters, turning up worn cuffs, re-fronting a shirt, re-footing a sock, making underwear and smocking. The pamphlet is 35 pages long and measures18.5 x 12.5 cms or 7 1/4 x 5 inches. Condition: Near Fine. There is only a little wear to the cover. It remains fresh and clean. The binding is secure. The pages within are unmarked.
