From the publisher: "Before dawn a line of candles is lit in protest against the outbursts of violence, as masses of men and women move across the wind blown swamps toward the police lines and the nuclear power plant. This same early hour, but miles away, midwives bend low over a woman who is in labor. The woman rocks back and forth on a wide bed, clutching her belly with both hands.50 Hours is a collision of worlds, a compression of layers of human experience. Dorothea Lynch's deeply personal writing and Eugene Richards' vivid photographs form an extraordinary narrative in which the rhythms and meanings of birth and social protest clash, then grab at each other, and finally interlock to have but one focus -- our future and the future of our children.".…
