Houdini & Tiger Lilly Hocus Pocus Magic Show
Can two cats pull off a magic show? With a wandering scarf, a wobbly wand, and a tail that refuses to disappear, anything could happen!
Step behind the curtain with Houdini and Tiger Lilly, a lovable brother-and-sister duo ready to turn an ordinary evening into something extraordinary. Houdini has a big personality, a magnificent orange-and-white tail, and an important name: he was named after Harry Houdini, the famous magician and escape artist. Now he wants to put on the most marvelous magic show ever.
There is just one small problem. Making magic look easy takes practice.
Luckily, his sister Tiger Lilly is ready to help. Quiet, observant, and full of ideas, she keeps an eye on the details her enthusiastic brother sometimes misses. Together, they arrange their props, rehearse their tricks, and prepare to amaze their family. There is a disappearing scarf to master, a flower to reveal, and one very ambitious finale: The Great Disappearing Cat!
But these performers have a few surprises ahead of them.
A scarf turns up somewhere it should not. A wand seems to prefer one cat over the other. And when the curtain finally rises, Houdini discovers that performing in front of an audience can make even a confident cat feel a little shaky.
What happens when the biggest trick of the evening does not go according to plan? Can a secret signal, a clever sister, and a little courage keep the show going?
Houdini & Tiger Lilly Hocus Pocus Magic Show by J. Steven Warburton brings together playful magic, gentle humor, and the warmth of two siblings learning to shine together. Beneath the top hat and colorful scarves is a reassuring story about trying something new, asking for help, and discovering that a mistake does not have to spoil the fun.
Young readers will find:
• Funny feline mishaps that invite smiles and giggles.
• A lively magic-show story with surprises along the way.
• A spirited brother and a thoughtful sister whose different strengths make them a team.
• Encouraging moments about practice, confidence, kindness, and sharing the spotlight.
• Playful magic words to join in with during story time.
Share it at bedtime, read it aloud together, or enjoy a cozy story break with a child who loves cats, magic, and make-believe. The story also opens the door to conversations about nervous feelings, helping others, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Inspired by the author's real cats, Houdini and Tiger Lilly, this adventure celebrates the special bond between a brother and sister—and the joy of having someone beside you who believes in you.
The stage is ready. The family is watching. The hat is waiting.
Open the book, say “Hocus pocus,” and discover what happens when two cats put their paws—and their hearts—into the show!
