The Ebola virus has been dominating daily headlines, propelling Richard Preston's The Hot Zone back onto the New York Times bestseller lists nearly twenty years after its initial publication. Available once again from Encore for a great value When a highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, DC, panic ensues. There is no cure and in a few days nearly ninety percent of its victims are dead. To stop the outbreak of this exotic hot virus, a secret military SWAT team of soldiers and scientists is mobilized. A hair-raising account of the appearance of rare and lethal viruses and their crashes into the human race, The Hot Zone tells the dramatic story of the first Ebola outbreak. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zone proves that the truth can sometimes be scarier than fiction.
