Add to basketHorse Owner's Concise Guide by Elsie V. Hanauer was published by A.S. Barnes and Company in 1970. Not an ex-library copy, this 102-page, 41-year-old offering is in VG+/VG+ condition. Either someone put this book away for safe keeping soon after purchasing or the 1970 publication year is a misprint, because both book and dust jacket are almost like new. The only thing that might be held against the book is some very slight yellowing of text's pages that is barely noticeable, Reader. From front inside jacket flap, "[This offering] is designed especially for the ever-growing number of horse owners throughout the world. If you own a horse, or contemplate buying one soon, or even if you are just an occasional rider, you will find here the same important facts and information that you would expect to receive only from larger, more costly volumes. And no matter how much experience you have with horses, you will find much to interest you. For the average horse owner, here in one book is just about everything you will need to know about the anatomy of the horse and the diseases the animal is likely to come down with. Learning to recognize common injuries and knowing how to deal with them is also an important subject, and [the Author] deals with this problem in a way that will make it clear to you. If you are an advanced horseman, you will appreciate the diligent research with which the author has enriched her pages. No matter how much you think you know, you will discover some piece of equine lore with which you had previously been unfamiliar." And, this offering is sprinkled with the author's simple but effective Drawings that clearly help nail down points of instruction brought out within text. Horses are horses, Reader, and, therefore, a vast amount of the knowledge imparted in this volume is quite probably as current and valid today as when it was originally published in March, 1969. Thank you very much!!
