Ruth England Gottlieb has always lived a sheltered life on the windswept plains of northeastern North Dakota. As a devoted daughter—and a new bride—she believes her future is secure… until tragedy shatters everything she holds dear.
In the wake of devastating loss, Ruth is left alone, unprepared, and questioning not only her future—but her very identity. Struggling with grief, bitterness, and doubt, she drifts far from the life—and the faith—she once held close.
Desperate for a fresh start, Ruth accepts a position as a chore girl for Amos Armstrong, a difficult and irritable farmer whose injuries have left him unable to tend his land. Life on his farm is anything but peaceful. His harsh demeanor tests her patience, and the quiet isolation deepens her pain.
As her dream of becoming a schoolteacher slips further out of reach, Ruth must face a difficult truth: she cannot outrun her past—or her need for God.
But even in her darkest moments, Ruth is not alone.
Through unexpected trials, quiet acts of grace, and a powerful journey of Christian faith and spiritual growth, Ruth begins to hear God’s voice in ways she never has before. What follows is a moving story of redemption, forgiveness, and trusting God in hardship.
Will she remain trapped in sorrow… or embrace the hope God is offering her?
Perfect for readers who love Christian historical fiction, inspirational women’s fiction, and faith-based novels, A Hope and a Future is a heartfelt story of healing after loss, second chances, and discovering God’s purpose in life.
Because even in life’s darkest seasons, God’s promises remain—offering hope, renewal, and a future.
