"This is theological biography at its best! With humor, wit, and a heavy dose of wisdom, Jeff shares his journey from the Mormon Church, which was filled with committed people, to the Christian faith, which he sadly discovered has comparatively few committed adherents. His story will have you giggling one minute, tearing up the next, and feeling convicted in all the right places. But most of all Jeff's story is certain to inspire you to embrace a more compassionate, committed, and fulfilling relationship with Christ!" Greg Boyd Senior Pastor and theologian, and Bestselling author of over 20 books.

The Homeward Call: A Contemplative Journey Into A Love That Will Not Let Us Go, is the life story of Jeff Pratt, who was born and raised in a strong Mormon family, and set on the fast track to leadership in the Latter-Day Saints Church before Jesus invaded his life. After becoming a Christian, Jeff encountered nominalism and half-hearted devotion so often found in the church, which led him to conclude that Mormons were more diligent at living their religious convictions than Christians were at following Jesus as a way of life.

This realization led Jeff on a spiritual journey back to a more ancient homeland of a Bible-based contemplative activism—a call that has taken him to over 100 nations, and into a life-altering intimacy with God, who he says, "aches for our full presence, and invites us to experience His." That is the invitation of this book.

At the end of every chapter of The Homeward Call is a "Your Story" section of interactive reflections and spiritual practices, with original artwork throughout the book.

"It's been said that God is the 'hound of heaven,' pursuing us, coming after us to lead us home. Here is a beautiful homecoming story of a man who was raised Mormon, and has traveled the world, only to find God closer than he ever imagined." Shane Claiborne Activist, Speaker, and bestselling author of The Irresistible Revolution

Sometimes Jeff Pratt misses being a devout Mormon. He misses a unified global movement, their organizational finesse, and a people who honor discipline and actually do what they say—qualities we often lack in the church movement of Christianity. However not wearing ties on Sunday (or ever) —that he celebrates! Jesus invaded Jeff’s life over 30 years ago and since then he’s had the privilege, and challenge, of following an untamable God to over 100 nations as an ordained speaker/teacher and missionary. After serving with Youth With A Mission and Mercy Ships, Jeff founded and currently directs Axiom Monastic Community: a global network of missional communities, and aspiring contemplative activists, who are involved in 27 nations of the world. He ministers at conferences, church events, TV shows, and enjoys leading pilgrimages and Homecoming retreats. Jeff treasures time with his adopted sons in New Haven, Connecticut—between lion walks in Zimbabwe—and immersing himself in the needs and wonders of children, creation, and the poor.
