Print on Demand. This book critiques the field of Homeopathy. Founded on the idea that the hair of the dog that bit you can cure the bite, Homeopathy founder Samuel Hahnemann claimed in 1796, that diluting a medicine increased its power. His followers espouse that the more you reduce the dose of a medicine the greater its power or "potency", sometimes diluting the solution to the point where none of the original substance remains. The author rejects these claims, presenting evidence that homeopathic medicines at such dilutions are entirely inert, an idea now supported by numerous scientific studies. The book places Hahnemann's claims within the broader context of the history of medicine, showing the attraction to mystical rites in medical treatments. It argues that while homeopathy might offer a small benefit due to its focus on a negative approach to treatment (i.e. do nothing and nature will heal), alternative forms of treatment offer significantly better health outcomes for patients and should be considered over homeopathy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
