Thick quarto. [iv], 1080pp. The New Testament with its own title page dated 1812. Full contemporary calf, the spine has raised bands bordered with gilt making six compartments, within the second from the top is a leather label with gilt decorative boarders and "Holy Bible" in gilt. Boards and spine rubbed and worn, front hinge starting, scattered foxing, and the endpapers and flyleaves have some tearing, overall still very good. Contains a family record of Joseph Warren and Mary Spalding (we believe from Massachusetts) who were married February 27, 1794; laid in are three sheets of notes recording births, deaths, and marriages, and a newspaper clipping regarding the double funeral of Mary Ellen Spalding and her husband, accomplished American scientist and Episcopal priest Frank Hagar Bigelow, the couple died within days of one another in 1924, both from pneumonia. Contains The Old Testament, The Apocrypha, The New Testament, a two-page section titled, "Judea, Palestine, or the Holy Land," and an Index containing an "alphabetical table of all the names in the Old and New Testaments, with their significations and tables of scripture weights, measures, and coins" (from the title page).
