Those unmistakable floppy ears and gentle expression make the Holland Lop one of the most appealing companion rabbits—but their small size can fool new owners into thinking they are effortless pets.
A Holland Lop still needs thoughtful nutrition, appropriate housing, daily exercise, regular grooming, gentle handling, enrichment, and attentive health monitoring. Their compact bodies, distinctive ears, dense coats, and individual personalities all shape how they should be cared for.
The Holland Lop Rabbit Guide is a practical, owner-focused handbook for first-time rabbit parents, experienced keepers, families, hobby breeders, and anyone who wants to understand this popular breed beyond its adorable appearance.
From choosing a healthy Holland Lop and preparing its living space to feeding, litter training, grooming, handling, enrichment, and lifelong health care, this guide walks you through the decisions that matter in everyday rabbit ownership.
Inside, you'll learn how to:
- Choose a healthy Holland Lop and evaluate temperament, body condition, age, and overall appearance.
- Understand Holland Lop characteristics, personality, activity levels, and common behavioral tendencies.
- Prepare a safe, comfortable indoor or outdoor living environment with appropriate flooring, bedding, ventilation, hiding areas, and exercise space.
- Build a sensible feeding routine around quality hay, appropriate greens, measured pellets, fresh water, and suitable treats.
- Understand the importance of nutrition for digestive health, dental wear, healthy growth, and maintaining an appropriate body condition.
- Introduce dietary changes gradually and avoid common feeding mistakes.
- Handle and socialize your Holland Lop gently so everyday interactions become less stressful.
- Establish litter-training routines and manage chewing, digging, territorial behavior, and other normal rabbit behaviors.
- Provide exercise, toys, foraging opportunities, and enrichment that encourage natural behaviors.
- Groom your rabbit properly and adapt grooming routines to its coat, shedding patterns, and individual needs.
- Pay particular attention to ear, dental, nail, coat, and body-condition checks as part of routine care.
- Recognize changes in appetite, droppings, movement, energy, and behavior that may signal a health problem.
- Establish practical hygiene, parasite-prevention, quarantine, and preventative-care routines.
- Understand breeding considerations, pregnancy, kindling, and basic care of kits if you intend to breed responsibly.
- Adjust your approach as your Holland Lop develops from young rabbit to adult and eventually senior companion.
You'll also gain practical insight into problems that can catch new Holland Lop owners off guard: excessive chewing, litter-training setbacks, boredom, weight gain, matted fur, difficult handling, inappropriate diets, and the tendency to mistake a rabbit's quiet nature for a lack of social or mental needs.
A Holland Lop is more than a pair of floppy ears and a cute face. It is an intelligent, sensitive companion that depends on its keeper for appropriate food, safe surroundings, exercise, enrichment, gentle handling, and consistent observation.
Whether you're preparing to bring home your first Holland Lop, already share your home with one, or want to improve the way you manage an established rabbit, The Holland Lop Rabbit Guide gives you practical knowledge for building better routines and providing dependable care through every stage of life.
The goal is simple: understand the breed, recognize what your individual rabbit needs, and create the kind of environment in which a Holland Lop can remain active, comfortable, well cared for, and genuinely happy.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
