In these polarized times when the words Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are often reduced to buzzwords or used as political flashpoints, this book offers a refreshing, clear-eyed examination of what Holistic Leadership entails. Through practical insights and a straightforward, business-minded approach, the authors guide you in building a culture where everyone belongs, fueling meaningful success for the entire organization. This book is a flexible, strategic guide ideal for Executives, HR Professionals, and DEIB Leaders at every level.
You'll learn:
· Why "meeting people and organizations where they are" is the only path forward in today's divided, politically charged climate.
· What DEIB is and what it is not. Words matter. The extensive easy-to-use glossary provides clarity for understanding important terminology that is often poorly explained or, worse, misrepresented.
. How to move from compliance-based frameworks (like EEO) to human-centered leadership rooted in dignity, safety, and respect.
· The three principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging (DEIB).
· The relationship between laws and societal norms.
· What differentiates Equality from Equity and why that difference is fundamental to long-term growth-minded success.
· What it means to foster a sustainable Culture of Belonging and how that drives systemic and economic transformation.
· How to be a well-informed DEIB advocate, even if this work is not in your job description.
Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to deepen your impact on your organization, this book shows you how to build momentum, create motion, and lead all with purpose. Concise and highly accessible, it is designed to be the reference you return to time and again.
This is not theory. This is how you do it.

About the Author
Frank Miles grew up during the 1960s; his mother's support of the Civil Rights Movement made a lasting impression. After graduating from Bucknell University, where the subject of his honors thesis was the Bakke affirmative action case, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University Law School. After practicing for eighteen years with the region's largest law firm, Frank became Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel of a major corporation, which had only recently hired its first Diversity Director. This was at a time when Diversity initiatives were just beginning to be undertaken by a handful of organizations. As corporate secretary and strategic planning leader, Frank suggested that his position have oversight of Diversity efforts to underscore their importance to the entire enterprise. He was able to leverage his role throughout the community by encouraging his company to support fledgling projects like the local African American and LGBT Chambers of Commerce, and the Hispanic Community Center. Frank has chaired, co-chaired, and been a member of DEIB committees at several organizations. In 2008 he co-founded the Diversity and Inclusion Professionals of Central Pennsylvania as a professional development tool for Diversity and Inclusion Professionals. His DEIB work has been recognized by a variety of organizations, including the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Central Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.Frank resides with his wife of forty-five years on their Pennsylvania farm and enjoys the great good fortune of living within walking distance of their children and families.
