150 illustrations — 98 full-color and 52 b&w.
Filled with humor, whimsical stories, poems, cartoons, and never-before-published artwork, approved by parents and rascals alike. This delightful collection is designed to be enjoyed in the morning with coffee, on vacation, under the covers, or as a snack on road trips.
Drawn from Ted Ringer’s beloved earlier works, including Born with a Beard, Gus Goes West, Get Outta Town, and The Lure of the Garage, this collection also features selections from his blogs, newsletters, poems, and visual art, creating an improbable, yet welcome literary collage.
For readers who enjoy the gentle wit of Garrison Keillor and the comfort of feel-good humor, this is a book to return to again and again.
Perfect for fans of good-hearted humor books, humorous essays, lighthearted storytelling, and illustrated comedy collections.
From the author —
The pen is mightier than the sword, and easier to carry.
Not only that. It’s more interesting.
It can create. It can imagine. It can poke you in the ribs.
This hodgepodge is suitable for all ages and orientations. Within are stories, pictures, and startled musings. Tall tales, short jokes, and wide horizons. Passages of hyperbole nestled near depictions of an essential and elemental nature. Bedtime stories for big kids, small fry, and inquiring minds of all sizes.
Don’t be shy. Open this book and flirt with the unknown. Find old pals, new acquaintances, and, possibly, true love. Cast your fate (or at least a few moments) to the wind. Uncover secrets, run into good friends, and be comforted.
“Who knew?” — his English teacher.
“A literary P.B. and J.” — Julia Child
“Ringer had me at Mishmash” — The Daily Planet
“It shook me to my core.” — Crabby Appleton
A collection of stuff from the author of Born with a Beard, Gus Goes West, Get Outta Town, and The Lure of the Garage.
