The landscape seems to transform into combinations of language and time. Mystery and epiphany are brought together in bright bursts, concise and sharp enough to leave afterimages. Nelson’s language is bold and innovative, upending phrases and staggering narrative in innovative ways. --ThrewLine Books

About the Author
Rodney Nelson's work began appearing in mainstream journals long ago. See his page in the P&W directory:
http://www.pw.org/content/rodney_nelson
He has worked as an editor in the Southwest and now lives in the Great Plains. Recently published chapbook and book titles are Metacowboy, Mogollon Picnic, Hill of Better Sleep, Felton Prairie, In Wait, Cross Point Road, Late & Later, The Western Wide, Billy Boy, Ahead of Evening, and Winter in Fargo. The Hjemkomst, a replicated Viking longship, was built in a Minnesota potato cellar, then sailed to Norway via the Great Lakes and the north Atlantic. Later, it came to permanent dockage at its own museum in Moorhead, Minnesota. Nelson’s poem “Rounding Third” is in part a meditation on the ship. He’s of Norwegian and Swedish ancestry.
