In a world where humans are governed by monsters and forced into arranged marriages based on DNA compatibility, an orphaned fisherwoman and a shadow creature find themselves unexpectedly matched despite centuries of separation between their species. As they navigate their hasty marriage, they discover their unprecedented bond threatens powerful figures who have been manipulating the matching system for generations.
