Six double-page maps, and two double-page battle plans, eight plates in all. Title page in red and blank, head and tail pieces, occasional woodcut capital. The opening collation runs: Mind of the Front/recto blank; engraved title page/verso blank; portrait of Raleigh/recto blank; printed title page/verso blank; contents [24 unnumbered pages]; title page Life of…Raleigh.with his Tryal third edition dated 1687 /verso blank/ life 41 pages, followed by the main text, concluding with the table and index. Contemporary full dark calf, rather rubbed, but ties sound. A good example of this famous work, collated complete and correct. ESTC R33765.
