Blending classical learning with philosophical reflection, Raleigh sought to interpret the rise and fall of civilisations through a moral and political lens. This eighteenth century folio edition presents the work in expanded form, enriched with maps and accompanied by a detailed life of the author, offering both a monumental text and the story of one of England’s most compelling historical figures.
