Item description from seller

Containing an account of the discovery of the immense gold mines and placers, a description of her mineral and agricultural resources, with thrilling accounts of adventures among the miners. Ownership inscription dated April 6, 1892 on fly-leaf. Crown 8vo; original blue cloth, lettered in gilt on spine; t.e.g.; pp. 422. Spine frayed at head and tail; some dampstaining to covers; bookseller's label of "Davis Bros., Golden Rule Bazaar, San Francisco, Cal." on lower pastedown; hinges splitting, and pinhole (defunct wormhole?) internally to upper hinge; some foxing to endpapers and page edges, sporadic spotting elsewhere. Fair condition. Evidently a cheap, unillustrated edition of this popular history of California, with much on the gold discoveries.
