This is an early county history for these two Michigan counties and includes numerous biographical profiles of residents, many accompanied by wood cuts as well as some full page engravings. There are also many full page illustrations of farms as well as city scenes. This book also contains three hand-colored maps: 2 maps of Ingham and Eaton Counties and 1 map of Geology of Michigan. The inner hinges have been tape-reinforced, cover wear and top of spine chipped. Cover wear, title page worn and loose as are a few pages in rear. Pages and illustrations are clean and bright. !! IMPORTANT NOTE !!: this copy is missing seven portions of text (which, of course affects both sides of the page), and two complete pages of text have also been excised--it appears that someone cut information out of the book instead of photocopying it. There are a number of marginal pencil lines throughout where someone wanted to denote important passages as well as a few pencil notes (these could be erased if they are objectionable). The missing pages have been supplied in photocopy facsimile and loosely inserted in the book. None of the illustrations appear to have been removed from this book.
