Item description from seller

Firmly collectible, desirable and readable. Nostalgic for Austin Fans. 69 pages. Paper / Soft cover edition in very good condition, slight wear to edges. Glossy card covers with cloth spine. Archival reprint / replica of original hand written edition from the British Library on each page facing the actual text. Lovely to see Jane's manuscript in her own hand. Written when she was just 15, Jane Austen's The History of England is a wickedly funny, sharply satirical take on British monarchy and politics, parodying serious historical texts with wild irreverence. Penned in 1791 and humorously "illustrated" by her sister Cassandra, the manuscript barrels through the reigns of kings and queens from Henry IV to Charles I with dramatic flair, blatant favoritism, and biting sarcasm-mocking historians, idolizing Mary Queen of Scots, and poking fun at royal scandal. Part teenage rebellion, part literary parody, it's Austen's early genius on full display-bold, hilarious, and defiantly unladylike. Overall delightful copy of this scarce title. Excellent read. A good book to enjoy and keep on hand. Or would make a great gift for the fan / reader in your life. Limited edition. Decorative portrait cover. Small tome, miniature edition. Collectors must.
