A good copy of the fourth edition (believed to be 1934) of Lewis Spence's well-known work exploring the lost continent of Atlantis. Spence argues that Atlantis was a real historical place rather than simply a philosophical allegory created by Plato. The pages are generally very good, with the exception of the title page and the following few pages, which show some heavier foxing (see photographs). The remainder of the text is overwhelmingly clean and bright. The frontispiece and all other illustrations are present and in very good condition. The front pasteboard and front endpaper are clean, with no foxing, inscriptions or notes. The text block edges show some foxing spots, but this has not transferred onto the pages. The binding is excellent. The original red boards are clean and tidy, with crisp, bright gilt lettering and decoration. The spine is also in very good condition. There is some general rubbing to the covers and minor wear to the extremities, but overall the book presents very well. The text block remains tight and all illustrations are present. A very nice copy overall. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. All images show the actual book offered for sale; we never use stock photographs. Additional photographs are available on request, and we are always happy to answer any questions.
