Eight volume set with usual library stamps and Reference Department bookplate to inside front covers. Marbled covers with brown leather spine and corners. Front guttering is weakened and for part the second volume 2 the front cover is detached. Part the first volume one covers also detached. Shows signs of shelf wear with scuffing to edges and surface, particularly the leather. Internally some light foxing mainly to first few and last few pages, otherwise relatively clean and tightly bound. Part the first covers from the earliest accounts till the division of the Macedonian Empire in the East. Part the second covers the history of the Ancient World from the Dominion of Alexander to that of Augustus with a survey of preceeding periods.
