This book is for those who want to know about The University of Texas, yet who don't have time to read all that has been written about it. It is for all of the Orange-Bloods who love the place and often find themselves in a corner when trying to answer questions about its history. The book contains select highlights from the University's rich history and development.


Part I are highlights of the growth and development in roughly chronological order. Part II describes the student culture of each decade. Additional information includes lists of the past presidents of the University, past presidents of the Students' Association and a listing of university buildings. This book was originally published in 1997, so all information is prior to it being published.

About the Author: Margaret Berry graduated from The University of Texas in 1937 and was a former dean and historian at the University of Texas at Austin. She was the recipient of the Texas Exes Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1996. In 2015, friends created a $100,000 Endowed Presidential Scholarship in honor of her parents, Lillian and Winfred Berry.When she passed away in 2017 at the age of 101, the university's main Tower was darkened in her honor.
