"This pictorial map of the area around Detroit, Michigan was drawn by artist William Ogg Fitzgerald in 1934 and issued as a centerfold in a promotional brochure by the Chrysler Corporation. It uses vivid colors and bold illustrations to highlight the many historic aspects of the region, from the original French colonization through the War of 1812. Interspersed among the vignettes and text are numerous references to the modern automobile industry; including the locations of manufacturing headquarters, routes (in red) to Chrysler motor plants, and an illustration of "ye airflow principle, making history's most efficient motorcar." Even the emblems of the company are not-so-subtly included in the title cartouche, certainly eroding the theme of historical accuracy." Sheet Width (in) 16 Sheet Height (in) 17.9 Condition Description Folds into a six panel brochure. Minor wear along the fold lines and faint soiling along the outer edges. Soiling on the front covers of the brochure, which is also partially loose at the stapled binding. Does not affect the map, which remains in excellent condition.
