Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating realm of biblical prophecy, specifically focusing on the often misunderstood and debated books of Daniel and Revelation. The author addresses concerns raised by those who view these prophetic texts as ambiguous or open to subjective interpretation. Against the backdrop of historical skepticism and varied interpretations, the book champions a grounded and principled approach to understanding prophecy. The author critiques the notion of a "double sense" in prophetic texts, advocating instead for a consistent application of established linguistic and hermeneutical principles. By examining key prophetic passages and their historical contexts, the book aims to demonstrate that a clear and consistent interpretation of prophecy is achievable. Thematic discussions explore the nature of prophetic language, the role of symbolism, and the significance of historical context in unlocking the true meaning of these ancient texts. Ultimately, this book offers a compelling case for a more rigorous and historically informed approach to interpreting biblical prophecy, providing readers with valuable tools for navigating these complex and often misunderstood texts. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Clear, principled guidance on interpreting biblical prophecy
This concise work argues for a plain-language approach to Scripture, urging readers to follow established, language-based rules rather than speculative fancy. It explains why most readers should expect the times and symbols in Daniel and Revelation to be understood in their ordinary sense, and it traces the historical influence of popular but controversial methods. This edition presents the author’s aim to keep interpretation honest and consistent with common sense, offering a framework that highlights language, logic, and the natural way people understand time designations in prophecy. It also situates the discussion in a broader historical debate about how prophecy has been explained by English- and American-language scholars.
- How to distinguish plain readings from speculative or allegorical interpretations
- Why symbolic time designations are debated and how the author grounds his view
- Arguments about the origins and influence of popular prophetic methods
- Guidance on evaluating interpretations with language-based hermeneutics

Particularly have such charges been made against the prophecies. These have been compared to the ambiguous vaticinations of the heathen oracles, and pronounced to be deserving of merely the same credit which is given to them by enlightened minds.
