Octavo, Pp. 280. Olive green cloth boards with pictorial cover and white printing on spine. Faint rubbing to extremities and one corner bumped. Pictorial front and back paste-downs. Foxing on the paste-downs (front and back) and ffep (first-free endpaper) as well as title pages. Occasional light spots within. Collected letters in 3 parts of Robert LeMoyne Barrett (1871-1969) and his wife, the writer Katherine Ruth Barrett (nee Ellis, 1879-1961) during a Himalayan pilgrimage. The letters include poetry, songs and even musical notations. Includes 3 fold-out maps and a 4th larger folded map in a pocket at the end of the book. Contains a section on "Caravan Vocabulary", describing commonly used Urdu, Ladakhi and Turki terms.
