Sm. 4to. 25 cm, first edition, 269p., 4 maps including rear pocket folding, music, illustrated endpapers, original green decorated cloth, spine titles stamped in white, upper cover illustrations stamped in black on green & white out line (brilliant), very good to fine. (tr). ~ A brilliant pictorial cover design. ~ Extensive series of descriptive letters from travels in the Himalyas of northern India. Robert Lemoyne Barrett (Gypsy Davy) and his wife Katharine Ruth Barrtett (Lady BA) travelled in 1923-1924 from Srinager through Baltistan and Karakoram into Ladakh. Contains much about the lore and music of the Himalayas. Robert Barrett was a founding member of the American Association of Geographers and previously had carried out much exploration in the Canadian Rockies.
