About this Item
Decorative bookplate of Ethel Whymper, with her name hand-written on the plate, to front pastedown (fading to the ffep opposite shows that the plate has been in place for some considerable time). Green cloth boards a little rubbed and marked, mainly to spine and gutters. Spotting to faces of page block. foxing to text: heaviest to the title, early and final leaves, and periodic within the main body of the text. Binding opening slightly before the half-title. 368pp. The book mainly deals with Young's exploits in the Alps. Ethel Whymper, only child of Edward Whymper, climbed in the Alps during the inter-war years both prior to and post marriage. She married in 1937, so it can be assumed that the bookplate pre-dates this moment. Further information available on request. (Ud3). Seller Inventory # 003705
