Paperback. Walking down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland, is like walking through a thousand years of history. Learn about the powerful tales and discover the hidden mystery of the medieval-modern city by peering behind the scenes to uncover secrets that are waiting to be shared to those who come. The Hidden Secrets of the Royal Mile brings to light the city's ancient past and its transformation into the modern world. Discover the meaning behind the Heart of Midlothian, and the time-honored tradition of spitting on the heart, the hidden tale about the strange ears on the Bucephalus statue, and the infamous 'Big Toe' of David Hume's statue. These are just a few of the many hidden stories surrounding the Royal Mile. This book offers readers the opportunity to not only walk through the city and admire all the historic buildings and statues along the way, but also provides understanding behind the places seen.
