About the Author: I'm the everyday guy who grew up next door to you. I was born in Alabama during the civil right era. I didn't see much violence in my early childhood. Sure there were the bombings in Birmingham and the Jim Crow era, but I mostly saw that on television. My closest neighbors were a white family with one child and we played together. His father owned the local Sears store in town. We lived near several lakes and his father or my father would take us to them to fish often. We'd eat together and play together. We didn't know predjuiste when we were young. We just enjoyed eating and playing together. I went to public schools. My white friend went to a private school. That didn't stop us from playing together everyday. I graduated from Pickens County High School in Reform Alabama and accepted a scholarship to Jackson State University in Jackson Mississippi. I was a member of the Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band. I took a break from college and joined the Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, I played American Football in England during the early 1980's before football became popular in Europe. After leaving the Air Force in 1984, I attend college at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville Illinois. I later reenlisted in the United States Air Force in 1987 and became a Recruiter. I left the Air Force and entered the private sector more than nine-teen years ago. I'm grateful that I was able to serve my country.
