Well, Hello There
A Heartwarming True Story About Kindness, Loss, and Community
What makes a neighborhood feel like home? For one special street, the answer is simple: Mr. Jim.
Mr. Jim is the type of neighbor everyone wishes for: kind, cheerful, and always ready with a smile and his trademark greeting: “Well, hello there!” With his scruffy dog Rusty at his side, and the neighborhood cats Ginger and toothless Chubs following close behind, Mr. Jim spends his days helping the neighborhood: sweeping sidewalks, pulling weeds, feeding hungry pets, and spreading joy wherever he goes.
But when Mr. Jim gets sick and can’t return home the street he loves changes. The neighborhood grows dirty, quiet, and lonely… until the neighbors realize they must come together to care for each other, and for Rusty, Ginger, and Chubs, just as Mr. Jim always cared for them.
Filled with heart, warmth, and gentle illustrations, this true story teaches children:
✨ Small acts of kindness make a BIG impact
✨ The power of working together as a community
✨ Everyday heroes can make a difference
✨ Love of people we lose can live on through our actions
Perfect for ages 4–8, Well, Hello There is a moving rhyming picture book for parents, teachers, and caregivers to share with children. It’s an ideal choice for:
-
Classroom read-alouds on kindness and community
-
Social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons
-
Bedtime stories that inspire gratitude and love
-
Gifts for teachers, neighbors, and families
By the last page, children will be smiling and saying, just like Mr. Jim: “Well, hello there!”
Includes a bonus Neighborhood Hero Badge for young readers to cut out and wear proudly!
