Global health and development have undergone dramatic changes in the 21st century. An unprecedented number of players, growth in funding and increased popular interest are driving efforts to make the world's population healthier. In this book, the authors identify the key challenges in global health, analyse their roots and interpret their evolution throughout the 21st century. Moreover, they offer their ideas on how to address these challenges. They organized their writings along six major themes: (i) improving available evidence; (ii) improving policy formulation; (iii) improving development assistance for health; (iv) improving governance and legislation; (v) improving international organization; and (vi) improving research prioritizaton. The book also explains three tools that they developed to assist decision-making processes: CHNRI, EQUIST and PLANET.
