From the Back Cover
"I used the first edition, An Introduction to Health Care Ethics, with undergraduates multiple times, and students loved the book. The second edition is updated with valuable new information and remains just as clear, careful, and compassionate. . . . This excellent text is recommended for anyone who realizes that sooner or later they will need to be engaged in the serious and loving work of health care decision making."
--Marie J. Giblin, Xavier University, Cincinnati
Health Care Ethics is a thought-provoking and insightful text, written by working ethicists practicing in today's health care field. Addressing the complex and sometimes controversial health care issues that are very much a part of our everyday lives, the authors incorporate case studies, social-ethics questions, and suggestions of multimedia aids in each chapter to encourage students
to observe, engage in moral discourse, and understand how ethical decisions are made.
Updated to include current case studies, coverage of contemporary topics such as regenerative medicine, and the pharmaceutical / device industry, the book also contains new chapters devoted to the significant issue of health care reform, to professionalism, and to the patient-professional relationship.
Health Care Ethics:
•Is written by theological ethicists working in health care today
•Is appropriate for undergraduates or professionals
•Assumes no knowledge of theology, ethics, or medicine
•Examines real-life concerns and issues familiar to students
•Establishes a normative basis rooted in a holistic view of the person, appropriate for students of all backgrounds
