About the AuthorDr. Carolle Jean-Murat, MD was born into a family of spiritual healers, herbalists, and midwives in Haiti, but was formally educated in medicine at renowned universities in Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, and the United States. To become a certified Western medical doctor, she overcame many obstacles, from childhood trauma to rampant racism and sexism.
She created a successful private practice in San Diego starting in 1982, and for over twenty years empowered her patients to become their best selves.But with managed care defining doctor-patient relationships, she became disenchanted with traditional Western pill-pushing medicine, knowing the importance and effectiveness of treating the whole human being, not just symptoms.
