Private letterpress, ATF Garamond Italic & Roman type is used throughout this limited edition of 146 copies. RARE. No copies of this work are currently available elsewhere. 7 1/2" x 5 3/4". 42 pages. Condition: VERY GOD. The book itself is in excellent condition; however, the dust jacket has several tears along the spine as may be seen in the images provided. Tight binding. All pages clean without any markings, notations, underlinings, or folds. See images provided. A rather fanciful, quirky and humorous book. Hats and Glasses contains two essays by Arthur Hove. Hats was read over Madison's WHA radio in 1979. The illustrations are executed with vintage zinc halftone cuts selected by John Thos Bennett, the printer. John Thomas Bennett operated his private press, the Gardyloo Press, in Madison, Wisconsin, in the 1970s and 1980s. Arthur Hove received his Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Afterwards he became director of the University s Silver Buckle Press, a working museum of letterpress printing history, and a lecturer in the University of Wisconsin's Art Department. The last page of the book states: "COLOPHON: Book Number: 95. This piece of literary & visual whimsy is printed on three shades of handmade Italian Roma which is made at the mills of Fabriano, & Arches Text Wove, a rag mouldmade paper from the Arjomari Mill in France. ATF Garamond Italic & Roman type is used throughout the 146 copies.". Seller Inventory # 230115
