The lost Romantic masterpiece now translated into English, featuring original erotic illustrations.
HASHISH is a lost Romantic masterpiece; it is a book so rare and sought-after that only two copies can be found anywhere in the world. Now this classic work on a forgotten Arabian legend has been found and translated into English for the first time.
This illustrated legend, set in Algeria, is presented as a 'pictorial opera' of love, hashish and tragedy in the time of Victorian erotica. The text is accompanied by gorgeous poems and songs. It also contains the first known illustrations and descriptions of true hashish hallucinations, as illustrated by the German artist Gottfried Sieben. All 50 of the original images are reproduced in this volume.
This deluxe limited edition is case-bound and slipcased with all of the original illustrations and colourful extras by illustrator Gottfried Sieben. It is limited to 418 copies all signed by Ronald K. Siegel, Ph.D. It will appeal to readers of Fitz Hugh Ludlow's Hasheesh Eater (1857) and Charles Baudelaire's Artificial Paradise (1860), as well as literature lovers and marijuana users everywhere.
