This VG quality book was copyrighted in 1912 and is published by Cupples & Leon; it is 7-5/8" tall with 200 numbered pages of text followed by 2 unnumbered pages of ads. This book has a cream colored cloth binding with all black lettering and a front panel in red and black; it is a format #1 book, as per Mattson & Davis. It is square, very clean, free of edge dings with the bottom front corner lightly bumped; the head and heel of the spine are bumped with slight fabric damage at both ends; the bottom edges have a heavy amount of wear, with the boards exposed at several points. The spine is clean and the lettering and small image are clear and intact. The front panel image is clean and has very little wear. The top edges of both panel have fabric deterioration where the paint seems to dissolve, exposing the threads of the binding. The interior is free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and paper damage of any type. Both hinges are quite strong and not damaged in any fashion. The text paper is lightly toned and is quite flexible and not brittle. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. It has a frontis + 3 on plain paper. The series list in the front of the book lists the first 20 books in the series, those published through 1912. The G+ jacket is moderately toned with small chips at the head of the spine at the top front corner, plus at the lower front corner. But the big chip--2-1/2" x 1-1/2"--takes out the bottom of the spine. There is also wear along the front fold. There is a purple ink stamp at the bottom of the rear panel noting a price increase in Cupples books--from 50¢ to 75¢. The list on the back side of the jacket lists all 25 books in this series.
