This nonfiction work gathers local history, biographical sketches, and archival notes to illuminate how a frontier town became a political center. It draws on travel writings and contemporary accounts to place Harrisburg in a broader colonial and revolutionary context, without relying on a single narrative voice.
- Learn how the site was chosen and what early observers saw in Harrisburg’s selection and surroundings
- Meet the era’s notable figures, from long‑running public actors to rising political talents
- See how travel journals and local records contribute to understanding 18th‑century governance
- Explore the social and political tensions that framed early American state affairs
Ideal for readers of early American history, Pennsylvania local history, and political biographies seeking a grounded, documentary view of a pivotal moment.
