About the Author: David C. Jones is a professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary. He has written or edited over twenty-five books, including the award-winning Empire of Dust. Anthony Rasporich is former dean of Social Sciences and professor emeritus in the Department of History at the University of Calgary. Hugh Dempsey is Chief Curator Emeritus of the Glenbow Museum in Calgary and one of western Canada's most respected historical authors. His books include The Amazing Death of Calf Shirt and Other Blackfoot Stories, and TheGolden Age of the Canadian Cowboy. Dempsey was made an honorary chief of the Kainai Blackfoot in 1967 and in 1975 was invested as a member of the Order of Canada. Max Foran has been working the field of western Canadian history for over thirty years and has published on various urban, rural, and cultural topics. He is currently a professor in the Department of Communication and Culture at the University of Calgary. Janice Dickin is professor emerita in the Department of Communication and Culture at the University of Calgary. Her areas of study include medical history, life writing, and Canadian social history. Max Foran has been working the field of western Canadian history for over thirty years and has published on various urban, rural, and cultural topics.
