Found after her death, "THE HARIKIRI DIARY" is the only known novel by Dorene Withers, a Los Angeles based poet and musician who took her own life at the age of 25.The book follows a caricature of Dorene as she tries to make her way through a harsh and unforgiving world. Through her trials the songs she writes help her get by. But eventually, even they are not enough.

About the Author
Dorene Withers was the singer for the Los Angeles based alt-rock band “The Black Nightingales.” Her promising career as a vocalist and song writer was cut short by a love for drugs and alcohol. After a stint in rehab she was relocated to a half way house in Pasadena where she was later found dead by her own hand.
