Paperback. Hard Knocks is a satire, based upon true events that just happen to take place in the legal industry, but it is hardly a law book. Rather, it is a Life book, detailing professional wallopings and rounding off with a dose of Aesop. Witty, surprising, at times angering, but always hilarious. You'll learn. You'll laugh, but most of all, you'll enjoy graduating with Merv from the School of Hard Knocks. When the Joke is on The Lawyer If you enjoy programs like The Office, Fairly Legal, The Practice, Boston Legal, LA Law and Ally McBeal, or adore getting lost in a John Grisham novel, this is your book. Designed to be a short, fast funny read, each story can be read on a coffee break and have you laughing all the way back to your desk. Hard Knocks is for people who love to laugh and through that laughter, learn. It's also a book for anyone who has found him or herself caught up in a legal dispute whether divorce, real estate or business and sorely needs comic relief. It's also a book for teens and college students preparing to enter the working world and unaware of the professional challenges ahead, whether in business, personal life or of course, the legal profession. Hard Knocks is a compilation of short, amusing, humbling, and character-building experiences. The kind that come out of nowhere and teach us that no matter how smart we think we are, no matter our profession or prestige, as students of life we've still got a lot to learn!
