About the Author: Kim Safonov is an elementary teacher with a passion for rescuing unwanted, discarded and abused animals. Over the past 8 years, she and her husband Zhenya have saved close to 100 dogs from a miserable fate on the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine and have found loving homes for them. By hosting projects in international schools to help local shelters, she has mobilized hundreds of children to raise support, volunteer in shelters and to show compassion and kindness to stray animals in need.
