- Book 1 of 1: The Repossession of Genie Magee
As she begins to recover her identity, she accidentally discovers a graphic novel is serializing her life, in horrific detail. Her therapist is deeply skeptical this could be true and worries for her sanity. But all she can think of is, why is this happening to her? And how can she stop them?
It’s fourteen years since so many kids disappeared from Spurlake (chronicled in The Repossession of Genie Magee) – some to be found but then disappeared all over again. It was a scandal at the time, forced the closure of the science labs locally called the Fortress and led to half the town leaving to seek jobs elsewhere. Genie Magee is the girl who blew the whistle and took down a billion-dollar company. She made a lot of enemies.
Where are those kids who survived the experiments? All would be adults now and why is there a kind of omerta about the whole story? It seems no one went to jail for abducting these teenagers. Genie also knows that in a world where rich people want to live forever - a girl who never seems to age would be a tempting target. Her DNA would be very valuable indeed. Was this why she was taken?
Silverton is a dying town where nothing seems to be going on. Why has she ended up here? And who was the now deceased driver of the crashed car? Regaining her memory, Genie is exposed to an emotional tidal wave as she recalls all the terrible things that happened to her. Now she desperately needs to know who it is telling her story.
