Print on Demand. This book tells the true story of Hannah Corcoran, an Irish Catholic girl who converted to Protestantism in 19th-century Boston. Hannah's experience of religious harassment and eventual kidnapping garnered wide media attention and brought the conflict between Catholicism and Protestantism to a head. Throughout the book, the author explores the social and religious climate of the time, including the rampant discrimination faced by Catholics due to biases rooted in anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic sentiment. The book further delves into themes of conversion, family, community, and social responsibility, and examines the complexities of religious identity in a deeply divided society, demonstrating the historical significance of Hannah Corcoran's case. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The Shepherd of the Valley, a Roman Catholic newspaper, published under the auspices of the Catholic Bishop of St. Louis, says, If the Catholics ever gain, what they surely will do, though at a distant day, an immense numerical majority, religious freedom in this country is at an end.
