[New York], Stores Publishing Co., [1948]. 29 x 22 cm. Offprint on deluxe paper from Woman's Day, December 1947. Stapled in grey cover. 4 p. Printed in red-brown and black on laid paper. Text about the Chancery cursive by Arrighi with letter images - also of other typographical types, and partly taken from letters from calligraphers to Paul Standard! Among others Jeanyee Wong, Jan Tschichold, George Salter, Jan van Krimpen, Stanley Morison and Will Carter. Spine slightly torn. On the inside of the cover a very beautiful handwritten dedication by Standard (1896-1992) to Huib van Krimpen: 'H. van Krimpen/ with cordial regard,/ & in common affection for/ Chancery Cursive,/ Paul Standard/ (calligraphic curl)/ N.Y., 12 April 1948'. This classic article from a widely read women's magazine (3 million buyers in 1947) is cited in the online version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica as an example of the popularity of calligraphy.
